Move Accounts
Learn how to re-order your Accounts after your Scenario is built
The ability to reorder accounts is important for building financial models in a format that works best for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
When importing accounts into PlanGuru:
-
From QuickBooks or Xero → Account order mirrors your accounting system.
-
From Excel → Account order follows how you map them during import.
However, if you’ve added a new account, removed unused ones, or want to restructure your Chart of Accounts, you can easily move accounts within PlanGuru.
1️⃣ Accessing the Reorder Tool
-
Expand the left-side menu bar.
-
Go to Utilities → Reorder Accounts.
-
PlanGuru enters Move Accounts mode — in this state, all you can do is move accounts.
2️⃣ Moving Accounts Within a Section
To move an account up or down:
-
Click the icon to the left of the account to select the row.
-
Hover your mouse over the row border until the cursor changes to a directional arrow.
-
Hold Shift on your keyboard.
-
Click, hold, and drag the row up or down.
-
Release the mouse click first, then release Shift at the desired position.
3️⃣ Confirming Your Changes
After reordering accounts:
-
Click Confirm & Move Accounts at the top of the screen.
-
Your model will reload with the updated account order.
-
You can then continue normal tasks like applying projection methods.
