We're dedicated to continual improvement of PlanGuru Analytics. And while we have many ideas for how the tool can be improved, we thought it best to ask our users what they thing. We've created a survey here (PlanGuru Analytics Survey). The goal is to elicit feedback from our users on what you think the most important enhancements are.
This writeup is meant to supplement the survey by providing additional insight on each proposed enhancement. Please review these items while filling out the survey so you understand the functionality each survey question refers to.
Saved Reports (views) - Deployed 2/15/2014
Currently all reporting is done on an ad-hock basis, meaning that each reporting page reverts back to the default settings when you log in. Once you change report pages from the default, for example you add a chart or choose to highlight variances, these settings are only retained for a limited period of time and must be reselected every time you want to review this report. This makes collaborating with clients / colleagues more challenging because report settings (Format, charts, filtering options) are all selected a la carte.
With the saved reports enhancement you can define the format and option combinations that are most important to you or your clients, then save those "views". Saved views can be named and easily recalled to create a "report book" that captures all of the most important selections of data that you plan to review on a recurring basis. Development is in progress and due out in mid February
Shared/Common Dashboard - Deployed 3/10/2014
Currently dashboards need to be configured by each individual user, again this makes efficient collaboration a bit harder. For example say you want to configure a dashboard for yourself and the other users who access your subscription, currently you will need to replicate this dashboard for each user by logging with their credentials, or providing detailed instructions so that they can configure the dashboard on their own.
With the shared dashboard enhancement administrative users will be able to set an analysis level dashboard that will be shared with all users who have access to that analysis. Also, each user will still retain the ability to have a personal dashboard that can be set to their liking. In sum this enhancement allows users to easily collaborate around a shared/ "official" dashboard while retain the ability to have their own personal dashboard.
Additional Forecasted Year & Rolling Forecast Report Format - Deployed 3/21/2014
Currently PlanGuru Analytics only shows budgets/forecasted data for the first projected year. In this enhancement will add a second year of budgeted/forecasted data to PlanGuru Analytics. Along with the addition of this data we'll add a new report format to provide additional reporting options. Development has started on this item and we plan to have the feature rolled out for the next deployment!
Scorecard Feature - Deployed 4/15/2014
A "Scorecard" feature will allow users to quickly track performance against established goals in an attractive and color coded grid. The contents of the grid (the goals) would be defined by users by selecting a categories representing key financial results & KPIs then establishing the 'performance thresholds' for each respective goal. Grid contents would display color coded tiles showing the percentage attainment of the target (performance scores). The performance scores will be based on the budget vs actual results and the established performance thresholds. Development has started on this item and we plan to have the feature rolled out for the next deployment!
Permissions & Role Related updates - Deployed 5/28/2014
Based on feedback we've received from our customers we're making a number of updates to how permissions work in PlanGuru Analytics. The goal of these updates are to make PGA easier to setup and administer. Currently only the SAU (subscription administrative user) can set and asign permissions. This will be changing, once these improvements are made CAU's will be able to grant permissions to users within Companies that they've been associated with. In addition CAU's will also be able to create analyses within their associated Companies. In addition we'll be adding a new role called the SSU (subscription supervisor user). This new role will allow the SAU to give other users subscription level access to PlanGuru Analytics. SSU's will be able to see all companies and analyses within a subscription and will be able to add users, and assign all permissions. This new roll will be helpful for advisory firms who have multiple individuals who will be working with clients in PlanGuru Analytics.
Branding / "White Labeling" Feature - Deployed 5/28/2014
We've had a number of users inquire about placing their firm's logo on their PlanGuru Analytics subscription. We're pleased to announce that we will offer a Branding/White Labeling feature. With this new feature customers will be able to place their firm logo on their PlanGuru Analytics subscription to better brand the tool for use with their clients. In addition subscribers will be able to use custom colors to align further align the look of PGA with their own marketing presence.
We're designing an optional notification feature that will send e-mail notifications to users when key changes are made to PlanGuru Analytics. We fee that this feature will further the collaborative value of PlanGuru Analytics and keep users in the loop when action is required. Item is in the design phase, but we hope to have it out by the end of April 2014
In the spirit of enabling efficient collaboration we're designing a commenting feature that will allow users to make comments on dashboards and financial results. This way consumers of the data (your clients & colleagues) can ask questions about the numbers or suggest changes to dashboards. Administrative users will then be able to log-in, review the comments, take appropriate action and clear the comments as needed Item is in the design phase, but we hope to have it out by the end of April 2014
Dashboard Related Enhancements
There are a number of exciting enhancements that we plan to make to our dashboards in addition to the sharing feature. Some of these ideas include 1) double click a dashboard item to enlarge it 2) add multiple categories to a dashboard item. There are many others, but these are just a few.
One of the key advantages of PlanGuru Analytics is that reduces or eliminates the need for printed reports. Consequently in its original design PlanGuru Analytics has no "print report" feature. Whether out of habit or necessity it stands to reason that some users will still want the option to print reports and dashboards out of PlanGuru Analytics. Help us prioritize this enhancement.
