Why Use Annual Roll Forward?
Annual Roll Forward is useful when:

A fiscal year is completed and should now be shown as historical.

You want to start importing actual results for the next fiscal year.

You want to continue working in the same scenario without recreating it from scratch.
Example:

Current scenario = First projected year = 2022
-
Actual results loaded through November 2022

Rolling forward will:
-
Move 2022 into historicals.
-
Create a new scenario with 2023 as the first projected year.

1️⃣ Accessing the Annual Roll Forward

Open your scenario.
-
Expand the left-side navigation menu.
-
Go to Utilities → Annual Roll Forward.
2️⃣ Annual Roll Forward Options
When the Roll Forward window opens:
Enter the NEW Scenario Name – Enter a name for the new scenario.

PlanGuru creates a new scenario and leaves the original intact as a backup.
3️⃣ Processing the Roll Forward

Click OK to begin.

Processing time varies depending on scenario size
When complete:
-
A new scenario is created.
-
First projected year advances by one year.
-
Completed actuals from the prior year move into historicals.
Best Practices

Run Monthly Roll Forward throughout the year to keep forecasts updated with actuals.

Use Annual Roll Forward only once the fiscal year is complete (or nearly complete).

If rolling forward early: push forecasted amounts into historicals as placeholders, then overwrite with actuals once available.
-
Always confirm your original scenario file remains intact as a backup.
